pixpect is a lightweight chrome extension that detects image transparency and removes backgrounds using the remove.bg api.

we are committed to keeping your data private. pixpect does not collect, store, or sell any personal data.

data collection

pixpect does not collect or store:

• personal information
• browsing history
• images you view or process
• any user-generated content

all processing is done locally or on-demand.

how pixpect works

local processing

transparency detection is performed entirely in your browser using local image analysis. no image data is sent to any external servers during this process.

background removal (optional)

if you choose to remove an image background:

• the selected image is sent to the remove.bg api
• this request is made directly from your browser
• pixpect does not store or retain the image

please refer to remove.bg’s privacy policy for how they handle data.

api key storage

if you provide a remove.bg api key:

• it is stored locally using chrome’s storage api
• it is never shared, transmitted, or exposed by pixpect
• it is only used to authenticate requests to remove.bg

permissions usage

pixpect uses the following permissions only for core functionality:

• context menus — to add right-click options for images
• active tab — to access the selected image when triggered
• storage — to save your api key locally
• downloads — to save processed images to your device

pixpect does not use these permissions for tracking or data collection.

third-party services

pixpect uses:

• remove.bg api (for background removal)

no other third-party services are used.

data security

pixpect does not maintain servers or databases. all operations are performed locally or through trusted third-party apis when explicitly triggered by the user.

changes

this privacy policy may be updated as needed. any changes will be reflected on this page.
